Our research project titled “An Integrated Optimization–Artificial Intelligence Framework for Travel Demand Forecasting in Autonomous Driving Environments (자율주행 환경을 고려한 최적화-인공지능 융합 교통 수요 예측 모형 개발)” has been selected for funding under the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF, 한국연구재단) Excellent Research Program – Early Career Researcher Type B (우수연구-신진연구 유형 B). The project will be conducted over five years (2026–2031) with a total research budget of KRW 733 million.

Dr. Younghun Bahk was invited to deliver an oral presentation at the 94th Conference of the Korean Society of Transportation in Gwangju. His presentation took place during the Mobility Ecology Summit Hour Session. He also served as a panelist for "Panel Discussion: Realities and Challenges in Urban Tram Operation Planning (도시철도 트램 운영계획의 현실과 과제 토론회)" and a session chair for the Public Transportation I Session.

Dr. Younghun Bahk presented a poster titled “How Will Personal Driverless Vehicles Change Household Travel Patterns?” at the 2026 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting, held in Washington, D.C., as part of the session “Behavioral Insights into Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Use.”

Dr. Younghun Bahk was invited to speak at a seminar organized as part of the research project "A Study on Transportation Planning for New Towns Based on Advanced Mobility" led by the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI). Dr. Bahk delivered a presentation on "Private Driverless Vehicles and Future Transportation Planning."

Dr. Younghun Bahk received the Yongtaek Lim Award (임용택상) for the Outstanding Paper Competition, hosted by the Mobility Ecology Summit Hour (MESH), for his doctoral dissertation titled “Modeling and Planning for Future Multimodal Transportation Systems with Household-owned Driverless Vehicles.”

The team of Daegun Kim, Minsang Kim, Mingyeong Kwon, and Jongho Cheong, supervised by Dr. Younghun Bahk, won Excellence Award (최우수상) at the Ajou Engineering Education Capstone Design Competition (2025 공학교육 캡스톤디자인 경진대회), with their project titled “PDP-TW–Based Optimal Routing and Risk Assessment Considering Road-Network Compliance to Improve Delivery Riders’ Risky Behaviors (배달 라이더의 위험 행태 개선을 위한 PDP-TW 기반 도로망 준수 여부에 따른 최적경로 분석 및 위험도 평가).”

Dr. Younghun Bahk established the METRO Lab—short for Multimodal and Emerging Transportation Research and Optimization. The lab will be incorporated into the Department of Transportation Systems Engineering at Ajou University in September and is dedicated to advancing research in next-generation transportation systems.
